If you are a veteran, this seminar can show you how to make the best use of your GI Bill and related authorities to attain educational, health, community support, and employment benefits.
Comradery and Family
Shared core values and mission experience can translate into the civilian fire service providing veterans with an on-going support system and comradery.  

This is a 4-day educational seminar that teaches veterans how to access their educational benefits, understand career path opportunities, learn their health and wellness options and activate additional programs, such as home mortgage programs and family member support. The seminar will be held at UC Merced and Merced College and in the venerable Yosemite National Park. Applicants selected to attend will receive a scholarship to cover costs during the seminar.

OUR MISSION, FOR YOU

You will leave the seminar with a clear understanding of how to work toward an exciting, satisfying career path that includes the right level of education for your personal and professional objectives. You will also finish the seminar with a new team of friends you can communicate with in the future in support of your educational and career goals. The course will provide each graduate with a course kit that will serve as a take-home package of network and resource contacts.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the four-day seminar, you will travel as a team from Merced to Yosemite National Park. You'll receive behind the scenes tours of UC Merced and Yosemite. We will move from the Valley to the NatureBridge campus at Henness Ridge where you learn about park and other career opportunities: how to access veteran benefits such as the GI Bill, health and family services, resume writing and interview procedures. Your scholarship covers transportation, dining, and lodging.
